Wedding styling: fabulous florals & vintage vibes

Wild woodland romance meets vintage glamour at Brickhouse Vineyard

Elegant blooms take centre stage in this eye-catching styled shoot, with their myriad forms including a floral chandelier, statement hanging installations, centrepieces, a floral arch and oversized vases dotted throughout Brickhouse Vineyard in earthy shades spliced with jewel tones.

This so-pretty palette of deep green, russet red and nut brown fuses with pastel peach, rich lilac and sorbet pink to create a seductively timeless look layered with interest while evoking the untamed beauty of nature. Adding a touch of vintage luxe through the 1920s-inspired detailing, the shoot is the result of a creative collaboration between florist Alice Wright at From The Wild and her students. “The end brief was an alternative, opulent 1920s vibe meets woodland magic – and a festival of colour and glamour commenced!” she says.

The bridal gowns play a pivotal role in achieving the vibe, with six looks showcased to explore the shoot’s sartorial keynotes from Days of Grace Vintage in Budleigh Salterton and Devon-based designer, Dandelions and Pearls. There’s a classic long-sleeved geometric lace gown, a cap-sleeved vintage shift with lace accents and exquisite art deco style embroidery, a botanical lace and fringed dress, a puff-sleeved minimalist A-line and a chic high-collared number. The pièce de résistance is a muted gold flapper frock bedecked with sequins and metallic embroidery, as attention-grabbing as it is coolly in keeping with the bygone sense of opulence. Ornate floral fascinators and strings of pearls provide the perfect final flourishes while tying together the overarching vintage look.

When it comes to the décor, decadent cakes adorned with fresh blooms and botanical motifs, and monochromatic stationery complement the elegant table settings. Here, gold charger plates and flatware, small posies in miniature glass vases and colourful tapered candlesticks create both inviting warmth and an eclectic edge.
