Jane and Jon's intimate wedding at Cadhay

After Jon popped the question to Jane in the February sunshine, the couple set about planning a small wedding in a picturesque corner of Devon. "I didn't have any colour scheme or theme - I just wanted a simple white dress and seasonal, local flowers," says Jane.

Cadhay, a stunning manor house with glorious gardens - including the old walled kitchen garden now converted to allotments - was the setting for the green-fingered couple's big day. "We both love gardening and have our own allotment in Exeter which has become our passion, so the venue fitted on many different levels," explains Jane. In Bloom Devon, who grow their own flowers just outside Exeter, provided beautiful flowers in an abundance of spring colours like purples, pinks and greens. "I couldn't have asked for anything more beautiful," says Jane.

Following a beautiful ceremony featuring carefully selected readings - "we chose 'Atlas' by U.A. Fanthorpe who is from Jon's parents' village, 'Scaffolding' by Seamus Heaney as I'm Irish and 'Us Two' by A. A. Milne," explains Jane - the newly-weds and their guests headed outside to enjoy some bubbles, canapes and sunshine in the water garden. "The relaxed and informal speeches in the garden before the meal worked a treat," reflects Jane. "It was a special moment sharing laughs and some poignant moments with our closest family and friends."

Following a colourful meal of poached salmon with a dill crme fraiche and mayonnaise dressing; rare roast beef with watercress and beetroot salad; and a trio of miniature pavlova with seasonal fruits, all served in the rustic barn, the couple and their guests relaxed on the terrace overlooking the allotments.

Later, Phil Smyth rocked the dance floor with his tunes. "He was amazing and did a beautiful acoustic version of our favourite song, 'In Your Light' by Jon Allen," says Jane.

Reflecting on the day, Jane says, "With hindsight, I should have had a bridesmaid, if only to hold your lip gloss and make sure you are OK on the day! But thankfully my sisters did an amazing job without being asked." And her favourite moment? "It's hard to pick one special moment as the whole day was so special. We couldn't have dreamed of it going better and loved just hanging out in the garden with a glass of bubbles with all our closest family and friends."
