With only a handful of weddings taking place each year, celebrations have an intimate, personal feel. The venue hosts weddings on Saturdays between May and September, making the most of the gardens and grounds at their seasonal best.

Say ‘I do’

Ceremonies can take place in the characterful old stone barn, where views stretch across the Tamar Valley towards Cornwall, or outside amid the flowers and greenery of the walled garden.

A collection of props, including lanterns, an arch and peacock chairs, is available for couples to use when styling their ceremony. For those planning a church wedding, a number of churches can also be found nearby, including St Andrew’s in Buckland Monachorum.

Celebrate in the secret garden

After the ceremony, celebrations spill into the walled garden, where guests can enjoy drinks and canapés, play lawn games or simply soak up the atmosphere. The marquee can be opened to the garden for an effortless indoor-outdoor feel, while panoramic sides keep the connection with the grounds even when the weather turns.

Rustic wooden trestle tables and chairs complement the relaxed country setting, with placemats, candleholders and other styling pieces available to help couples personalise the space. As evening falls, the firepit offers a cosy spot for gathering and toasting marshmallows before dancing gets underway.

Feast by the fire

Food is a huge part of the Uphill Farm experience. An open-fire kitchen sits within the walled garden, allowing guests to watch as their feast is cooked over the flames.

Expect hearty canapés, generous family-style sharing dishes and ingredients packed with flavour, including charcuterie made from the farm’s own free-range rare-breed pigs. As evening arrives, guests might return to the fire kitchen for freshly made wood-fired pizzas and other late-night favourites.

Drinks are given plenty of personality too, with a fully stocked bar and a bespoke cocktail menu created for each couple. There’s no corkage charge for welcome and toast bubbles or table wine, which the team will chill and serve as part of the day.

There is no accommodation at the venue itself, but B&Bs, hotels and holiday accommodation can be found in Yelverton, Milton Combe and Buckland Monachorum, with further options in Plymouth and Tavistock.

The team can also help arrange coaches for guests, making it easier to enjoy the celebrations while reducing the number of individual journeys to and from the venue.
