Why couples choose Driftwood Spars
Driftwood Spars enjoys a wonderfully atmospheric position above Trevaunance Cove, where rugged cliffs, the beach and the Atlantic Ocean provide a dramatic backdrop throughout the day.
The venue’s easy-going character makes it particularly appealing to couples who want their wedding to feel relaxed and personal. Ceremonies, dining and evening celebrations can all take place onsite, while the beach and South West Coast Path are only a short stroll away.
Built using spars salvaged from shipwrecks, the historic building has served as a tin-mining warehouse, chandlery, sail-making loft and fish cellar. Today, its exposed beams, cosy bars and maritime heritage lend a distinctive sense of place to a Cornish coastal wedding.
Marry beside the sea
Couples can hold their legal ceremony inside the venue or exchange vows in the cliffside garden with the sea and surrounding coastline as their backdrop.
Indoor ceremonies offer the warmth and character of the historic building alongside views towards the water, providing a comfortable alternative whatever the weather.
Afterwards, guests can gather in the garden or bar for drinks while the ceremony room is transformed for the wedding breakfast. Trevaunance Cove, the surrounding cliffs and the nearby coastal path offer beautiful settings for photographs, particularly as the sun begins to set over the Atlantic.
Celebrate at the Driftwood
The venue’s flexible spaces can accommodate celebrations ranging from intimate dinners to weddings of up to 120 guests.
The light-filled dining room overlooks the sea, while the traditional bars bring warmth and atmosphere to drinks receptions and evening parties. Woodburning stoves make the venue especially inviting during autumn and winter, while the garden comes into its own for summer celebrations.
Food is prepared in-house, with menus centred around fresh, locally sourced ingredients and modern Cornish pub dining. Dietary requirements can be accommodated, allowing couples to create a menu suited to their guests and style of celebration.
Driftwood Spars also has its own microbrewery just yards from the pub. Its range of Cornish ales brings an individual local touch to the bar, alongside wines, spirits and other drinks.
Stay by the cove
The venue offers 15 en-suite bedrooms, allowing the couple and some of their closest guests to stay beside the sea after the celebrations.
Rooms combine the building’s traditional character with comfortable modern facilities, with selected bedrooms enjoying views towards the coast. Breakfast the following morning offers a relaxed opportunity to continue the celebrations before exploring St Agnes or taking a walk along the beach.
Its position in Trevaunance Cove also places guests close to coastal walks, independent shops, cafés and the wider landscapes of the St Agnes Heritage Coast.
Combining sea views, historic character and the welcoming atmosphere of a Cornish pub, Driftwood Spars is a memorable choice for couples dreaming of a relaxed wedding beside the coast.
