What do you get when you mix a relaxed boho vibe with a high energy sense of celebration and performance? Shot on location at Above the Bay in Falmouth, this eye-catching styled shoot explores how a unique approach to the design, feel and entertainment of your day can combine to spellbinding effect.
Part party space, part stylish retreat - the idea of the shoot came from the word 'Caravanserai': a place where travellers can rest and recover from the day's journey. Presenting somewhere enticing to both don and kick off your dance shoes, the scene is a sensorial mood enhancer featuring light-up signs, glitter balls, tablescapes loaded with interest, and an array of backdrops that capture the fun and free-spirited atmosphere.
Circus performer and wedding coordinator at Above The Bay, Megan Souch, explains her inspiration behind the shoot. "I performed at Camp Bestival for many years and the performance space was called Caravanserai," she says. "The colours were so bright and fun; glitter everywhere! This was the main influence, as I just loved that fun-loving festival vibe and the meaning of the performance space we were in. It really was a lovely communal area where everyone was just so full of love and having the best time. This is how I’d love every wedding to be!"
Situated near Swanpool Beach, the new event venue presents a light, airy and stylish space to celebrate your love while you gaze out to stirring seascapes proffered by panoramic bay-wide views. "I feel Above the Bay provides that space for guests to rest, recover and have a lovely time celebrating together as family and friends," adds Megan of the venue's beguiling locale and ambience.
The shoot encapsulates all this along with a host of the cream of Cornwall's wedding suppliers, who were on hand to help bring Megan's 'caravanserai' vision to spectacular life. The bride wears a glorious full-length glitter gown topped with a floral crown and is flanked by a groom donning a dapper three-piece windowpane suit finished with a colour-pop buttonhole and paisley print tie and pocketsquare that nod to the fabulous floristry and boho vibe that runs throughout. The bridesmaid stuns in shimmery blue as the wedding party sup on pink fizz and relish having photos in front of the light-up signs, balloon arch and on the terrace bedecked with pampas and peachy dried blooms.
A multi-coloured cake and tabletops replete with colourful glassware and candlesticks, beautiful watercolour print stationery, and jam jars filled with flowers complete the scene. After the wedding breakfast, the newlyweds are transported in style via a classic VW camper, while the bridesmaid is thrilled with a ride in a vintage VW Beetle. Relocating to the golf course for a scenic photo shoot, the group lavish in their surrounds, moving from fields overlooking the water to the manicured lawn of the course for a final few loved-up shots before the sun goes down.
