Grand without feeling formal, Henlade House combines the elegance of a Regency manor with the warmth of a private country home. From the moment guests arrive through the octagonal entrance hall, period details abound, from soaring sash windows and ornate plasterwork to a striking cantilever staircase.
Weddings have exclusive use of the house, allowing the celebrations to flow naturally from ceremony and drinks to dining and dancing. With an experienced team taking care of the details, couples can settle in and enjoy the surroundings while their day unfolds around them.
Say ‘I do’
Inside, the light-filled Music Room makes an impressive ceremony setting. High ceilings, handcrafted ornamental plasterwork, a statement glass chandelier and feature fireplace bring a sense of grandeur, while large sash windows look across the fountain and gardens.
During the warmer months, couples can take the ceremony outside to the West Lawn. Framed by mature trees, manicured gardens and views towards the Quantock Hills, it offers a quintessentially English country house setting for exchanging vows in the open air.
Celebrate in style
After the ceremony, guests can spill onto the terrace and into the gardens for drinks and canapés before gathering in the elegant Dining Room. Filled with natural light and overlooking the grounds, the space seats up to 100 guests for the wedding breakfast.
As evening falls, the house transforms for the party, with space for up to 200 guests. The characterful bar provides a cosy place to gather, complete with deep-toned interiors and fascinating historic details including a glass-topped well and original wood-fired bread oven.
Feast together
Food is an important part of the Henlade House experience, with all catering prepared in-house by the venue's team of chefs. Menus showcase quality ingredients sourced from Somerset, Devon and the wider South West, with couples able to choose dishes and drinks to suit the style of their celebration.
From reception canapés to the wedding breakfast and evening food, the focus is on beautifully presented, flavour-led dining, accompanied by a carefully considered drinks offering.
Stay a little longer
Luxurious bedrooms allow the wedding party and closest guests to stay at Henlade House on the night of the celebration. Individually styled with a nod to the property's Regency heritage, the rooms combine period details and countryside views with contemporary comforts, while the following morning brings everyone together again over breakfast.
There’s plenty of space for the pre-wedding preparations too. The light-filled Bridal Drawing Room has dedicated hair and make-up stations, large mirrors and a luxurious en-suite bathroom, giving the wedding party a calm and beautiful space to get ready before the ceremony.
