Better Together

Jasmine and Will stole away to The Green for a wedding filled with beautiful blooms

"We met in the grocery aisle in M&S," recalls Jasmine, who befriended Will when they worked together at the store. "It was after closing on a late night shopping night, we were the only two staff in for the last half an hour and I had to show him what to do. We chatted and laughed and were friends from then on."

The couple were in Amsterdam when Will stunned Jasmine by popping the question one evening when they were out for dinner. "He proposed as we were feasting on wine and cheese while it snowed outside. It was perfect," she reveals.

The Green provided the perfect backdrop for the pair's "elegant and natural feeling" event, which featured an array of handmade decorations - "so it felt very 'us'." The fabulous floristry by Laura Hingston - a medley of blooms including roses and foxgloves in a palette ranging from creams to deep wine - was key to the natural, flowing aesthetic. Jasmine wore her long hair in soft curls and a lace gown by Naomi Neoh; not to be outdone, Will donned a textured three-piece suit accessorised with a watercolour bow tie and silk champagne pocket square.

After the noon ceremony beneath the arbour, everyone gathered at The Crows Nest on Bodmin Moor, where a pop-up cream tea and cloudy lemonade table greeted guests, who showered the newly-weds in confetti and joined them for photos on the moor.

Returning to The Green for Pimm's and croquet on the lawn to the stirring sounds of a harpist, guests were primed for the fabulous wedding breakfast.

Antipasto and pan-fried king prawns and squid were followed by slow-cooked lamb shank, sea bass, and halloumi and vegetable kebabs. A trio of mini puddings rounded off the feast before a personalised playlist kick-started the evening revelry.

"The whole day was so special!" says Jasmine upon reflection. "But one of the moments that stood out for us was when we were at the arbour as our mums were signing the register. Jack Johnson's 'Better Together' was playing and we sung the words quietly together and swayed a little dance: it was so perfectly happy."

Jasmine offers some advice to other couples keen to achieve a similarly dreamy day. "Whilst planning, try and remember what's important to you," she says. "There's so much out there available from different suppliers that it's easy to get overwhelmed and confused about what you 'should' and 'shouldn't' have at your wedding, but it is your day and it should be however the two of you want it to be."
