As well as crafting her showstopping wedding cakes here in Cornwall and the south-west, Emily Hankins teaches her sought-after cake-painting techniques across the UK and Europe, and was delighted to be named as one of the Top 10 Cake Artists of the Year in 'Cake Masters Magazine' in 2019!
'Being a working mum has its challenges and involves a lot of juggling, but I am proud to be a strong female role model for my son and have carved out a successful career doing something that I love every day,' she says. 'This accolade means the world to me and I am so delighted to be part of a top 10 full of driven, talented ladies who believe in supporting and motivating each other and celebrating our successes together.'
The past year has been a real highlight for Emily, seeing the launch of a new co-authored book, 'Designer Cake Decorating' from B Dutton Publishing, featuring a number of her cakes and tutorials, as well as a set of sugar press products designed by Emily for Sugar Press, which feature a hand-drawn font and floral press pieces bearing the Emily Hankins brand.
Emily's business ' Emily Hankins Cakes ' is based in Princes House in Truro, where she specialises in bespoke, hand-painted wedding cakes. Each cake is unique, being designed especially for its recipient based on their ideas and the feel of their wedding.
