Adeana and Courtney first locked eyes across a nightclub dance floor in 2007. Years later, Courtney planned a romantic proposal during a weekend escape to Gara Rock in Salcombe. “He planned to propose at sunrise by a lighthouse, but the weather had other ideas,” says Adeana. “Instead, he proposed in our hotel room against the backdrop of a storm. It was beautiful.”

For their wedding at Glebe Barn, the couple embraced a romantic palette of blush pink, rustic styling and subtle touches of glamour. Roses and disco balls featured throughout the décor, while abundant blooms helped shape the look and feel of the day. Reception tables were dressed with rattan charger plates, soft pink napkins and trailing foliage, interspersed with floating candles, blush rose stems and mirrored disco balls nestled among sprigs of eucalyptus. “I enjoyed adding personal touches such as hanging photographs from over the years and our decal mirror,” says Adeana.

The romance continued through the fashion. Bridesmaids wore dusky pink gowns, while Adeana carried a bouquet of soft pink and cream blooms that perfectly complemented her lace-and-tulle wedding dress. It also carried a deeply personal tribute. “My florist added my nan’s favourite flower and her ring to my bouquet so she could be with me on the day,” says Adeana.

Bathed in August sunshine, the day provided the perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony in the gardens. Accompanied by acoustic guitar, Adeana made her entrance before the couple exchanged heartfelt personal vows. “It was quite emotional,” she recalls. “That moment had been a long time coming for us.”

Fresh from saying “I do”, the newlyweds stole a few quiet moments together in the sunshine before rejoining guests for a confetti shower in the rose garden. Live musicians provided the soundtrack to drinks and canapés before everyone gathered in the barn for a feast designed to reflect their personalities and shared adventures. “We chose a street-food buffet inspired by places we’ve travelled and loved,” says Adeana. Guests tucked into American beef brisket, pad Thai and Spanish paella, accompanied by themed side dishes.

The speeches struck the perfect balance between heartfelt and hilarious. “Our bridesmaid Lois and groomsman Ben were brilliant MCs,” says Adeana. “They’ve known us both since school, so they had everyone laughing and got really creative with their storytelling.”

Guests enjoyed rustic lawn games, a personalised Guess Who? game and a Polaroid station before golden-hour portraits. Later, Adeana changed into an evening dress before the first dance. “We learnt a routine,” she says. “Courtney wasn’t convinced at first, but we had so much fun and were completely in the moment together. He even caught me in a dip at the end!” Live band Mammoth kept the dance floor packed throughout the evening. “We stepped outside for a sparkler moment as the light began to fade,” says Adeana. “Everything went exactly as we’d hoped and we couldn't have been happier.”

Reflecting on the experience, Adeana's advice is simple: surround yourself with the right people. “Have good people around you for advice and to help share the load. Make the most of the time spent planning and preparing together beforehand. Those moments are special too.”

She also recommends extending the celebrations if possible. “If you can plan something for the day after the wedding, do it! We had so much fun with a pool party at the venue on the Sunday. It gave us extra time with family and friends while staying in that lovely newlywed bubble.”
