Nestled deep within Cornish woodland, The Tartan Fox is a historic Grade II-listed hideaway set across a 30-acre estate. Its characterful frontage – a time-worn blend of granite and slate, with glowing windows that beckon you in – is wrapped by gardens and ancient trees. A venue forged by love, the building’s story dates back almost 400 years, when two neighbours decided to join their homes together. The year of their dedication, 1669, still sits proudly above the door – and centuries on, the tradition of celebrating love, life and food continues within its walls.
Inside, flagstone floors, beamed ceilings and granite-framed fireplaces are softened with dried florals, flickering candlelight and gentle, tactile textures. Now part of the Adam Handling Collection, the venue’s approach to weddings centres around heartfelt hospitality with a quietly luxurious edge, anchored by Chef Adam Handling MBE’s commitment to sustainable British food, created with the finest seasonal, locally sourced produce.
“My vision was rooted in natural textures, considered details and the organic character of the space,” explains Victoria Wesson, who coordinated and styled the shoot. Working in harmony with the venue’s dried flowers, soft lighting and ambient glow, the concept is one of effortless refinement – echoing The Tartan Fox’s sustainable ethos while embracing a sense of relaxed luxury.
The palette draws on the warmth of these elements, blending deep crimson, dusky rose and barely-there pinks, softened with touches of white. In the barn, the tablescape mirrors this intimate mood: a canopy of dried blooms overhead, light-catching chandeliers, and gold candlesticks and cutlery adding a soft lustre. Blooms in white vessels and vintage brown bottles nestle among floating candles, while beaded charger plates and rich burgundy napkins, tied with emerald velvet ribbons embroidered with each guest’s name, lend a beautifully personal, luxe touch.
The bride’s striking gown, crafted from structured mikado, glows softly in the candlelight, paired with crystal-studded shoes and delicate pearl jewellery. The groom keeps things timeless in classic black tie, completing the shoot’s refined, romantic aesthetic.
