Set within 450 acres of woodland and parkland, Scorrier House sits in an idyllic rural glade near the north Cornwall coast, where sweeping countryside views meet opulent, historic interiors – from the grand hall and striking staircase to the flower-filled glasshouse. Inspired by its setting, this styled shoot tells a modern love story rooted in heritage, expressed through a rich, painterly palette where nature meets refined romance.
“The concept explores the interplay of softness and statement: fluid movement, gentle light and expressive design coming together with ease,” explains photographer Hayley Howard of Howard South West. “The editorial offers a fresh perspective, with a strong sense of place at its heart.”
A luxe palette flows through the floristry, where tones of rich red, deep blue and burnt orange are layered through bold arrangements and striking installations. Sculptural anthuriums, roses and seasonal textures add depth and movement, while sweeping greenery across the tablescapes brings balance and contrast. Towering arrangements rise from trestle tables dressed in floral-print linens, layered with gold candlesticks, flatware and beaded glass charger plates. Handmade blue dinner candles, finished in striped and splattered designs, add a playful touch, subtly echoing the sky tones woven through the flowers. Stationery introduces a clean, refined contrast through the invitation suite and menus, complemented by hand-painted name cards and a bespoke welcome sign. The cake makes its own statement: a three-tier design adorned with fresh red blooms.
The bride’s silk A-line gown moves with quiet drama, its square neckline, statement sleeves and flowing waterfall skirt balancing timeless elegance with modern detail. Styled with a delicate Alice band, Art Deco earrings and a softly swept updo, the look feels both refined and radiant. The groom’s tuxedo is elevated with a cream dinner jacket, finished with a simple buttonhole that mirrors the tones of the florals. Together, the elements combine softness and statement, defining a modern take on country house romance.
