Love on the Edge of the World

Love on the Edge of the World

Autumnal inspiration for a coastal wedding at The Island Blockhouse in St Ives

Perched on St Ives’ iconic Island, The Blockhouse is pure coastal romance – where rugged Cornish rocks meet endless Atlantic horizons. It’s the kind of place that feels suspended between sea and sky; an intimate setting made for saying “I do” on the edge of the world.

Captured in the gentle light of October, this autumnal editorial captures the quiet romance of the season. “Every detail was designed to celebrate the untamed beauty of Cornwall’s coastline,” says stylist Jess Baber of Tide the Knot Weddings & Events.
“Rich terracotta tones, soft neutrals and delicate greenery perfectly complemented the historic charm of the venue, creating an intimate, evocative atmosphere.”

Inside, character spills from every corner – from the Atlantic views that flood through the windows to the fireplace crafted by Bernard Leach. “We worked with seasonal flowers to give a natural, effortless style to the arrangements,” explains florist Emily Talling of Three Acre. “We used flowers to bring in colour, texture and varying heights and scales to the room, creating a focal point for the ceremony.”

The look marries rustic warmth with timeless elegance. A tablescape of vintage crockery, earthy linens, florals and candlelight sets the tone for slow, soulful dining, while the cake – textured, ruffled and crowned with blackberries and cherries – offers a delicious nod to the season’s bounty. Each dish, rich with local produce, mirrors the hues of autumn itself.

The gown, an ethereal vision of oyster-pink silk, drifts effortlessly in the sea breeze. “The colours, particularly the flowers, and the location overlooking the choppy north Cornish coast were just perfect for this fantasy-inspired gown,” says designer Ailsa Munro. Completing the look, delicate gold jewellery set with freshwater pearls – handcrafted in St Ives – captures the shoot’s organic beauty and conscious ethos.

“For couples dreaming of an intimate wedding full of personality, poetry and a true sense of place, this shoot is brimming with ideas,” reflects Jess. A love letter to autumn in Cornwall: soft tones, wild edges and romance written in sea spray.
