Fiesta Fun

Henrietta and Daniel's fiesta themed wedding at Pamflete House

We met at primary school but started dating towards the end of secondary school. We have been together for seven years, explains Henrietta. Just before Christmas 2012, Daniel proposed in the picturesque grounds of Cotehele - a place they had both been visiting since they were small - and the pair spent the festive season celebrating with their family and friends.

Their 1st May wedding date inspired a May Day and bright fiesta theme where a carnival of colours punctuated the details. "We wanted a really personal, creative, individual and crafted feel to our wedding," says graphic/print designer Henrietta. "With the help of our lovely friends, many many hours were put into getting everything just right, including the stationery, Damson gin favours, 200 origami cranes, paper pompoms, and Polish pajaki paper chandeliers made by my talented stepmum Trudie as a nod to my Polish heritage."

Henrietta wore an exquisite lace dress by Temperley teamed with a beautiful bouquet of hot pink and tangerine flowers woven with ribbons, while her bridesmaids paired electric blue frocks with bouquets of the same hue with touches of pink.

Opting for a weekend of celebrations at Pamflete House in Holbeton, the couple married at St George's Church in Modbury before heading to Mothecombe Beach for photographs. "Daniel and I had both grown up visiting the beach," says Henrietta. "It is part of the Pamflete Estate so we could walk back to the venue in our finery and wellies."

The celebrations then kicked off in style with a sumptuous feast of slow-roasted leg of lamb in red wine, rosemary and garlic and roasted harissa chicken served on sharing platters with a series of tasty sides. Everyone then partied well into the night to the sounds of live band The Drat Pack.

Looking back, the church ceremony stands out as a particular highlight for Henrietta. "Seeing each other for the first time at the church was an emotional and memorable experience," she says. "There is no feeling like it." The couple also made a point of savouring the hard work that went into their creative and colourful celebration. "The evening following the wedding, Daniel and I danced alone in the marquee, enjoying being together and appreciating all the effort that had gone into making the day so special - it was definitely worth it," says Henrietta.

She also recommends savouring some timeout on the day itself. "Try and take a moment, just the two of you, to spend some quality time together. The day flies by so quickly."
