Perched on the border of Exmoor National Park, Huntsham Court is steeped in history, its grandeur a testament to timeless romance. Built in 1868 as a wedding gift from Charles Arthur William Troyte to his bride Katherine Walrond, the Tudor Gothic estate – with its iconic features such as original Tudor panelling – provides the perfect backdrop for a styled shoot that celebrates elements of the past while embracing modern elegance.
 
“We aimed to create a styled shoot focused on objects and elements that have withstood the test of time, capturing their timeless beauty and enduring significance,” explains Laura Dalton of Kept Weddings who styled the shoot. The result is a refined reimagining of historical grandeur, drawing inspiration from Queen Elizabeth I with an understated, contemporary touch.
 
The styling exudes heritage and sophistication, featuring foraged florals, traditional royal icing techniques and classic tableware. The tablescape is clean and elegant, enhanced by an abundance of vintage brass candlesticks, classic serving ware and intricately folded napkins, adding subtle detail to a pared-back setting. Florals are arranged with a natural, organic beauty, incorporating seasonal blooms such as cow parsley, daisies and wild greenery for a softly romantic aesthetic.
 
A cake adorned with delicate royal icing piping takes centre stage, while the jewellery – handmade pearls set with a smoky citrine gem in silver – adds a regal allure.
 
The bridal look also echoes historical influences while remaining effortlessly modern. The gown has a structured square neckline and puffed sleeves, its minimalist silhouette lending a contemporary edge to an Elizabethan-inspired look. The bride’s natural curls are styled into a delicate plaited crown, a nod to the intricate updos of the era, while soft, luminous make-up – with flushed pink cheeks and a delicate rose-hued lip – imbues the look with a fresh, ethereal glow.
 
A fusion of past and present, Huntsham Court is the canvas for an enduring romance, where history, elegance and modern love come together in the most breathtaking way.
