Exotic Summer Wedding Style

Revel in the golden hues of summer's last days

Warm shades of ginger spliced with mint, lush florals and intricate henna-inspired patterns create the most blissful scene for a modern wedding with a captivatingly exotic twist...

There's something about late summer. It's in the magic of savouring the warmth of the afternoon sun on your skin, the rich colours of the last summer flowers and the lingering moments of a molten sunset as the days grow short and a long winter beckons.

This styled shoot celebrates the enchantment of this time of year. Photographed in Croyde, North Devon, the stunning handcrafted domes from The Plank Company set the scene for a modern wedding rich in the wow factor.

"I was inspired to use a punchy ginger and mint colour scheme based on current trends and a twist on an Indian summer vibe," explains stylist, Bridget Scott of Blue Fizz Events. Henna patterns were key to the aesthetic and carried through the eye-catching stationery and intricately embellished cakes, while mirroring the warm palette.

"I fell in love with Indian flower garlands and wanted these to tie in with the ginger colours, with complimentary flower arrangements for the wooden tables," says Bridget. "I opted for a flower garland in a traditional style rather than a bouquet to continue the relaxed, unfussy vibe." The table styling echoed this simplicity. "I used upcycled jars with enamel paint to hold the flowers, silver ferns and simple lanterns."

The looks of the bride and groom carry the gorgeous aesthetic of clean lines, pops of colour and laidback vibes. The groom makes a coolly contemporary statement in a vibrant tangerine jacket teamed with neutral shades, while the bride wears layered vintage gowns - "to create a delicate silhouette and individuality" - a sleek pony tail and warm make-up with a delicate touch of ginger colour. "The look was completed with silver henna tattoos on the hands and wrist to bring the overall theme together perfectly," says Bridget.

Complete with the striking dome setting and breezy beachside location, this modern yet relaxed look is rich with the colour, drama and beguiling romance befitting this special time of year.
