We wanted to share a truly heartwarming local story that beautifully captures the magic of Polhawn Fort and the power of place when it comes to love, memory and celebration.

This November, Vicky and Liam returned to Polhawn Fort, exactly 30 years after they first said “I do” within its historic walls. Back in 1995, Polhawn Fort was a hidden gem by the Cornish coast, and the couple were among the many couples who fell in love with its charm, warmth, and stunning seaside views. Three decades later, they returned to the very spot where their married life began, surrounded by family, friends, and a few familiar faces from their original wedding party.

Their anniversary celebration began with welcome drinks and canapés, followed by dinner in the main hall and dancing led by the same ceilidh band that played at their wedding in 1995. Guests also took a nostalgic walk up to Rame Head during the day- a cherished tradition from the couple’s wedding weekend.

Vicky and Liam’s connection to Polhawn runs deep. It’s not just a venue for them, but a place that feels alive with meaning:

“There’s something incredibly special about this place - it’s more than just a venue, it’s a feeling,” says Vicky. “When you walk through, you can feel the love in the walls, a sense of calm and devotion that stays with you. We’ve dreamed of coming back for years.”

The couple were joined by many of their original wedding guests, including Vicky’s parents, Liam’s sister Siobhan, their sons Billy and Tom, and Vicky’s nephew Jack who was one of their pageboys back in 1995. In a touching family connection, Vicky also shares her wedding anniversary with her late grandmother, who married on the same date in 1939.

For Polhawn Fort, this celebration is a poignant reminder of the lasting bonds created within its walls a living testament to the many love stories it has hosted over the years.
