An Ode to Autumn

From the atmospheric Medieval Undercroft and elegant Ballroom to its 800-year-old Spanish Barn and glass-framed Palm House, Torre Abbey weaves heritage with heart-stopping romance in the most enchanting way. Wrapped in 18 acres of parkland and flower-filled gardens, scattered with Abbey ruins and sweeping sea views along Devon’s south coast, this iconic venue is every bit as captivating outdoors as it is within its storied walls.
 
It’s the dream backdrop for a styled shoot that channels Art Nouveau elegance with a decadent autumnal twist. “The creative direction, inspired by autumnal Art Nouveau, marries sophistication with modern celebration,” explains content creator and shoot coordinator Hannah of Wild Cherry.
 
Refined, sensory details shape the mood. In the Undercroft, chalky stone walls cocoon an intimate ceremony scene dressed with soft draping, sculptural florals and candlelight – timeless, atmospheric and achingly romantic. The Ballroom, meanwhile, becomes a vision of opulence, where deep-red and white linens, beaded gold charger plates, crystal glassware and clusters of candles adorn the tabletops. A hand-painted cake nods to the art in the galleries, where the newlyweds wander through to the Palm House – lush with waxy palms and a carnival of vibrant blooms.
 
The bridal styling is just as striking: a form-skimming gown with a delicately beaded bodice and sweeping skirt, teamed with a cape for added drama. Elegant pearl jewellery, a handmade head chain and lace boots add texture and charm, complemented by a sleek, wavy updo. “The look was completed with a signature autumnal red lip, setting a statement of bold refinement,” says Hannah.
 
“This shoot unites classical grandeur and candlelit luxury, offering a fresh perspective on modern fine-art weddings,” she concludes. Infused with art, history and the magic of its iconic setting, it’s a vision of warm, candlelit indulgence and romance as the darker months draw in.
