Deer Park Country House, an oasis of relaxation and rural charm tucked away amidst the glorious scenery of east Devon, is the perfect place to spend time with family and friends making up for lost time. With 80 acres of scenic grounds to roam, the exclusive-use venue couldn't be more perfect for an extended wedding, allowing your loved ones to gather for some precious together-time, filled with delicious food and memory-making activities, in an exceptional setting.

You might kick off your festivities with a welcome feast in the walled garden, before a starry-eyed wedding day that takes in more of the venue's picturesque settings, from the thatched summerhouse for the ceremony and the Italian garden for the drinks reception to the elegant orangery for the wedding breakfast.

As well as en suite bedrooms in the main house and garden room, there's the chic Playhouse, the Shed ' a true man cave with a pool table, dartboard, games console, barbecue and fridge full of Deer Park's own cider! ' and the Tree House, which, complete with a log burner, roll-top bath and rolling views, couldn't be a more romantic setting for the wedding night.

We've spoken to managing director of Deer Park Country House, Mark Godfrey, about the benefits of opting for a two-day wedding.

"After such a troublesome year of lockdown and restrictions, many of our couples are adding extra days to their celebration to make up for not being able to spend time with family and friends recently. It's such a great idea to extend this time as everyone is together anyway. And not only is the extra time to celebrate an attraction but the stress levels are reduced and it all becomes a much more relaxed affair," he says.

"A lot of our weddings are from out of the area and guests travel extensively to get to Deer Park, so adding extras days and extending the time here makes complete sense. A one-day wedding goes so quickly and couples often say they didn't get to talk to everyone."

Why do you believe Deer Park Country House makes a particularly perfect venue for an extended celebration?
"Firstly it's the most enchanting place set in beautiful countryside, so don't restrict your guests to just a day! There is so much on offer and so many individual spaces that you need at least two days to use the whole estate for your celebration."

What destinations can guests explore nearby?
"We have such a great range of places to visit, from the South Coast Path and Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis to Dartmoor and Exmoor, which are both beautiful National Parks, and of course the magnificent cathedral in Exeter. Guests often extend their stay in Devon or venture down to Cornwall to make the most of the south-west for a longer holiday."

What accommodation does Deer Park offer for guests?
Every first night of wedded bliss should start in a luxury thatched treehouse! With a roll-top bath, round bed, log burner and private balcony, where better is there to start married life? The playhouse is where the experience begins, sleeping six in three bedrooms, so the bride and bridesmaids canspend the night before the wedding in luxury. We happily deliver roasted chicken salads and plentiful supplies of fizz. The main dining table doubles in the morning as the hair and nail bar, and with three bathrooms, there's plenty of space to prepare!" he says.

The main house sleeps 28 guests in 14 bedrooms and the garden room has a further 15 double / twin guest rooms so a total of 60 guests can snooze happily," he continues.

"Plus, if more beds are required we've teamed up with partners to supply luxe yurts and bell tents, and additional mobile showers and toilets are also added to complete a glamping-style festival wedding."
