Located in the heart of the seaside town, Host St Ives provides the striking backdrop to this styled shoot, which takes the original features of the Victorian bank-turned-brasserie bar, together with red brick and warm leather accents, as the base layer for its colour luxe editorial.
“The inspiration for the styling came naturally from the vibe of the venue,” explains stylist Natalie Blake of the distinctive aesthetic. “The colour palette chosen teamed perfectly with the stylish décor.”
Bare granite walls, leather couches, dark wooden bar chairs and toffee-coloured wooden floors create a warm and welcoming space that’s flooded with natural light. An air of old school gentleman’s club with revamped modern edge comes courtesy of large colourful canvases, ornate hanging mirrors, industrial blue metal lampshades, colourful velvet cushions and floor-to-ceiling glass doors.
Mango wood charger plates styled with simple stationery and linen napkins lend a natural and pared-back look, which contrasts and complements the burnt orange runner dotted with textured glass tumblers, vases and single stem florals – a small posy of flowers the understated centrepiece. Gold candlesticks and cutlery add a hint of decadence, while the beautifully bare furnishings maintain the stripped-back feel.
The cake echoes the look with its dried flowers, textured buttercream and neutral hues spliced with warmer tones. A combination of fresh and dried flowers stitches the scene together while creating a series of mini focal points throughout.
With the bride donning a form-fitting backless gown and a chic chignon and the groom epitomising casual cool in beige slacks, a charcoal grey jacket and patterned rust tie, the dress code perfectly matches the classic-contemporary mood.
