The pair chose The Alverton as their venue for several reasons. "They were extremely kind and accommodating in supporting our ideas and visions," explains Ale. In fact, such was the venue's dedication to creating a personal day, that they surprised the newly-weds the morning after with a thoughtful gift. "At breakfast, the hotel had laid out the family pictures and guest book from the wedding reception as an amazing welcome table. This was possible because we had exclusive hire of the venue but it was lovely to feel that the hotel were still thinking about what they could do to help us - even the day after."
Bedecked in navy, gold and glitter, the wedding scene was a truly magical sight, featuring creamy clusters of florals and foliage, gold tableware and glittery accents throughout. In keeping with the glamorous aesthetic, Emma wore a beautifully embellished gown and carried a cream bouquet finished with twinkling detail. Ale, meanwhile, wore a coolly contemporary suit from Jack Bunneys.
The ceremony took place at St Mary's Catholic Church in Falmouth, after which the newly-weds headed to some of their favourite sandy spots - Gyllyngvase and Swanpool - for photographs before meeting their guests at The Alverton where the festivities kicked off.
Having approached the planning through their guests' perspective, Emma and Ale designed a day full of little touches to make it more memorable. "Walk through how their day will run and what you would be appreciative of as a guest," says Ale. "So, for example, we provided snacks and mini water bottles for the return bus journey post-ceremony and put vanity packs in the toilets of the hotel so even guests not staying there could freshen up if they fancied it."
This careful consideration of their guests, punctuated with things the couple love, led to a unique and crowd-pleasing event, where food was another memorable feature. During the reception, a wheel of parmesan and figs were presented in homage to an Italian tradition, alongside fish and chip cones. The sumptuous wedding breakfast comprised an antipasti meat starter, supreme of chicken with wild mushroom jus and fondant potato, and cr�me patisserie-filled profiteroles with a jug of warm chocolate sauce.
The evening reception lived up to the magic of the rest of the day, with live band Small Wonder belting out a set of floor-filling numbers and Emma's seven-year-old cousin, Layton, wowing the crowd with his dance moves!
"Worrying about things going wrong is to be expected, yet on the day the quirks and laughs make it your own!" assures Ale, looking back. "Accept before the wedding it is impossible to talk to everyone on your wedding day, so don't fret about it," he adds. "You are not being selfish, the day is full of your closest family and friends who all will understand."
