Rather than imposing a set style or rigid format, Battleford provides the setting and practical essentials while leaving couples free to choose their food, suppliers and personal details. The result might be an intimate ceremony beside the stream, a colourful festival-style celebration or a relaxed feast followed by dancing in the barn.

Marry beneath the oak trees

Battleford Farm is licensed for both indoor and outdoor civil ceremonies, giving couples a choice of settings across the farm.

The ancient oak trees create a naturally romantic ceremony backdrop, while the nearby brook brings the gentle sound of running water to the vows. Couples may also marry in the meadow with far-reaching views across the surrounding farmland.

For an indoor ceremony, the rustic wedding barn provides a relaxed and weatherproof alternative. Hay bales, wooden furniture and the venue’s collection of decorations can be arranged to suit the size and atmosphere of the celebration.

The freedom to move between these settings allows couples to choose the spot that feels right for them while retaining an indoor option should the weather change.

Make the barn your own

At the centre of the venue is a spacious rustic barn that can be styled for dining, drinking and dancing.

Installed ceiling decorations and lighting create an atmospheric starting point, while the barn’s natural character lends itself to a wide range of looks. Couples can add flowers, fabric, colour and personal touches or embrace the simplicity of the rural setting.

Large wooden tables and chairs, hay bales, table runners, jugs, white crockery and glassware are included. Other items from the venue’s furniture and decoration collection may also be used, helping couples create a distinctive look without needing to hire every element separately.

The celebration can spill outside into the meadow, providing plenty of room for drinks, games and younger guests to explore before everyone returns to the barn for the evening party.

Food, drinks and flexibility

Couples are free to choose a caterer that suits the style and budget of their wedding. Battleford’s collection of recommended suppliers includes options for everything from relaxed grazing and wood-fired food to a more traditional wedding breakfast.

A fully staffed bar forms part of the venue’s wedding offering, with local beers and ciders at its heart. Wines, welcome drinks and tailored drinks packages can also be arranged.

The Battleford team coordinates supplier arrivals and guest parking on the wedding day, helping the practical elements run smoothly while allowing couples to retain creative control.

Power is generated by the farm’s solar panels, supported by a silenced backup generator, while water comes from its own borehole. This low-impact infrastructure makes the venue particularly appealing to couples seeking a countryside wedding with sustainability in mind.

Elopements and micro weddings

Battleford Farm is not only suited to a large celebration. Its peaceful landscape and flexible spaces provide an intimate setting for elopements and micro weddings too.

Elopement couples can choose to marry beneath the old oak trees, beside the stream, in the meadow or inside the barn. Exclusive use, coordination, celebratory fizz, flowers and a night in the bridal bell tent are included, along with a local breakfast hamper for the following morning.

The owners can act as witnesses if required, while up to six guests may join the ceremony. Dining, sharing platters or a barbecue can also be arranged afterwards.

For celebrations of between 15 and 50 guests, the micro-wedding option provides the same exclusive use and flexibility on a smaller scale, allowing couples to gather their closest loved ones without losing the relaxed atmosphere of the venue.

Stay close to the celebration

Guest camping and use of the venue’s large bell tent are included within the micro-wedding and full-wedding packages. Further bell tents can be hired, allowing couples to create a relaxed glamping area within the countryside setting.

Additional accommodation is available nearby at Waye Barton Farmhouse, where tailored options can include bedrooms, breakfast and spacious preparation rooms for the wedding party.

The farmhouse’s sitting room and conservatory provide plenty of natural light and room for hair and make-up, while the gardens and views across the farm offer further settings for photographs.
