Holly Young Millinery launches new collection inspired by the Cornish coast

Holly Young has just launched her new eagerly anticipated collection for 2018.  The Saphir collection has been inspired by the Cornish coast, mermaid mythology and goddess glamour. Featuring pieces such as delicate hair combs, on-trend hair vines and stunning seashell-encrusted mermaid crowns, this collection promises to be the most exciting yet with an abundance of beading, lace, feathers and both bronze and blush details, pulling in pops of opulence with gilding, deep sea azure and flashes of coral all featuring as part of the collection.

"I am so excited about the Saphir collection, named after a shipwreck which went down 100 years ago this May off the coast of Cornwall," says Holly. "It reflects the very best of our wild county and cultural heritage but with my usual touch of vintage flair.  These pieces are all about the romance of the rugged Cornish coast, nature and colour. I've drawn inspiration from close-up details of sea life, abstract interpretations of seascapes, the feeling of warm summer nights on the skin, chilled pink lemonade, rose gold glamour and fabulous filigree detailing; even the rich hue of coral inspired by local fishing nets."

Following years in the centre of Truro, Holly has recently relocated her studio to the village of Veryan, close to both her home and the sea. Her new space offers a showroom for her headpieces, an area for crafting new commissions and space to meet clients for tea and cake before spending her lunch break on the sand.

Holly is also taking part in Open Studios Cornwall from 19th to 28th May so the public can visit her in her studio without an appointment between the hours of 11am-4pm each day (excluding 21st and 25th May).  She is running some fun millinery workshops too so you can try your skills at either fascinator or festival flower crown making.
