Wedding Reception Styling in Cornwall and Devon

A rustic country wedding

A rustic country wedding

Wedding styling: pretty and rustic country

An elegant country house decorated with rustic touches provides a beautiful wedding backdrop

What better place to say 'I Do' and celebrate your love than in the company of the countryside's untamed beauty? Nestled on the Cornwall-Devon border, Glebe House Cottages is a stunning new venue set within five gorgeous acres of formal gardens tumbling into lush rolling hills.

Glebe House comprises a spectacular 1820's Grade II Rectory that retains an array of original features such as stone walls and studded doors. Licensed for up to 180 guests, couples can choose from three different locations to utter their vows, while receptions can take the form of a marquee, alfresco dining or indoor party.

Showcased to spectacular effect with this fabulously styled shoot, the colour scheme draws upon the venue's natural surrounds and seasonal blooms, blending a palette of blush pink, sage green and ivory spliced with decadent tones of gold.

To help couples envision what their own day at Glebe might look like, a handfasting ceremony was staged under the stone pagoda and performed by Unique Ceremonies, the asymmetrical floral arch providing the perfect focal point. Another ceremony was hosted in the gazebo which was framed by the wisteria weaving its way up the Rectory and provided the picturesque spot for the stylised tablescape. 'As soon as I saw the venue, I knew that this area was an ideal setting for outdoor dining with its long narrow pond as the focal point. I could envision the whole reception playing out in front of my eyes,' explains stylist and planner Sara of Peony & Lace Weddings.

Here, the striking centrepiece of a hanging floral installation featuring locally-grown apple blossoms, ranunculus, tulips, anemones and narcissi presides over the rustic chic table tops below. Blush pink and sage green tapered candles in gold candelabras are complemented by crisp white linens, while a neon love sign adds a modern element of fun. Then there's the show stopping cake: a three-tier handcrafted confection by Claire's Sweet Temptations adorned with ranunculus and sprigs of apple blossom, which beautifully brings the scene's overall look together.

The bridal party, with their oyster A-line gowns complete with Art Deco style gold embellishment and boho floral crowns, flanks the bride that stuns in a timeless strapless frock with floral lace appliques; while the groom epitomises country cool in shades of sand alongside his laid-back, yet debonair groomsmen.

And s day turns to night, the sense of magic becomes ever-more palpable with twinkling festoon lights and the soft glow of the Rectory's lighting to create an ambience that oozes pure romance.
