Italy inspires a garden wedding rich in romance and beautiful blooms in a sublime corner of Cornwall

Italy was the starting point for this dream of a styled shoot, explains the shoot's coordinator and stylist, Sophie Walker-Sunderhauf of The Little Details by Sophie (thelittledetailsbysophie.com). 'I wanted it to be luxurious, but relaxed, intimate and based on Italian family get-togethers,' she says.

'I wanted to show people who love the idea of a destination wedding but perhaps can't afford it or family members not prepared to travel that they can have a UK wedding with a destination wedding feel.' The flower-filled gardens of Trevince created the colourful and irresistibly romantic setting, akin to a Mediterranean paradise. 'Picture a Sunday afternoon along the Amalfi coast, with long tables, cosy corners where you can eat ice cream and romantic velvet textures to add the luxury aspect,' says Sophie.

Decadent bouquets enhanced the sumptuous, Italian mood. 'I wanted large over-the-top floral bouquets for the bridal party, but simple, delicate flowers for the tables,' she says. 'The invitations and table decorations were to give the shoot a modern twist.' An alcohol-free alternative to an Aperol Spritz, Wilfreds adds a further splash of colour and flavour to the tablescape, while the cake is a gorgeous medley of texture, muted shades and fresh flowers. And, of course, no Italian feast would be complete without gelato. Here, Moomaids on Wheels provides the delicious Cornish take on Italy's famous sweet treat.
