The process of compiling this issue of Wed Magazine has been quite exceptional. The weeks of organising photo shoots, drafting content and finalising features have been juggled alongside the final planning stages of my own wedding - a time that has proved uplifting, life-affirming, exhausting, stressful - and ever so exciting! It has been rather surreal writing up this issue's real weddings and styling bridal shoots knowing it will be me clad in that vision of ivory loveliness very soon.
I like to think that my own planning process has infused these pages with the ethos with which my fiance, Brendan, and I are planning our day: to embrace our personalities, to do it our way and to revel in the dreamy backdrop of Cornwall and its oh-so wonderful wedding industry.
We start with the fashion. And what a lot there is this issue: from hot-off-the-catwalk gowns to smouldering grooms wear.
Our bridal fashion story 'Crank It Up' took us to the atmospheric climes of Heartlands to showcase a series of captivating bridal looks - think elaborate ruffles, statement silhouettes and hip headwear - against the evocative relics of Cornwall's mining past. In contrast, 'Swept Away' saw us spending the day in the sublime setting of St Ives Harbour Hotel, where we shot a selection of dreamy bridal fashions styled with a sprinkle of oceanic style.
The bridal fashion treats continue in 'All the Curvy Ladies!', which serves up some guidance for all you curvaceous beauties on a mission to find your dream gown. And don't forget the question of what lies beneath those lovely layers of lace and chiffon - 'Underworld' is brimming with tips for selecting the perfect bridal underwear. Not neglecting the man in your life, 'Groomed to Perfection' showcases some top trends to ensure he's suited and booted in style come the wedding day.
I'm hoping my wedding day will be the biggest and best party of my life - and the music plays a pivotal role in creating the electric atmosphere we all hanker for. In 'Melody Maker', we serve up some stellar tips for your soundtrack, while 'Party Fever' is bursting with brilliant ideas for livening up your reception.
