Wedding styling: winter greys

Cloudy greys and stormy shades create a contemporary winter wedding scene

Coming out of winter and looking towards warmer seasons can be a time of wishing away skies and clouds, dreaming of hotter days and sunnier climes. But relishing in the stormy weather can result in a gloriously gorgeous look, filled with muted tones and voguish touches, as shown by this styled shoot organised by Rebecca Marie Weddings & Events. Soft shades are awash throughout the styling, from the rustic-edged linens and sugar-dusted cakes under glass domes to the groom’s traditional sartorial choices and the bride’s luxe and oversized tulle skirt.

The impressive foliage cloud installation over the table set-up adds a sense of gentleness and greatness, while white asparagus fern and grey senecio bring in the soft grey and white tones in the bouquet, with a wilder look added with acacia and cypresse, and a touch of white lisianthus to bring the design together.

The textured design of the jewellery offsets the clean lines of the elegant stationery, with the cloud-like florals and foliage softening any hard edges and adding a sense of wildness.

The bride, her two-piece gown and length veil adding modern drama and softness, has a stillness about her, not swayed by the storms or the seriousness of the greys. It’s a moodiness but one with poise, elegance, style, and a heady sense of dramatic occasion weaved throughout.
