Kerry and Tom's manor house wedding

Navy, floral and copper accents lent a modern and personal twist to Kerry and Tom's manor house wedding

"Tom booked a holiday to New York as my Christmas present," says Kerry, reflecting on her unforgettable yuletide trip. "He proposed in Central Park on our first day. He found a bench next to a waterfall with a great view of a lake and the Manhattan skyline."

Having always dreamed of a manor house wedding, Trewornan Manor ticked all the boxes for Kerry and Tom's celebrations. "It was important to me that we chose somewhere with accommodation so that we could make a weekend of it," says Kerry. "One of the nicest parts of the weekend was sharing stories with everyone over breakfast on the Sunday."

A navy, floral and copper theme made for a gorgeously dressed marquee with cut-glass vases filled with pretty blooms alongside eye-catching copper candlestick holders on the tables. An eye-catching cake cloaked with intricate iced petals and hoops woven with blooms - a last minute addition that proved to be one of Kerry's favourite features - extended the floral aesthetic. In addition, custom-designed stationery extended the beautiful and bespoke look of the wedding.

The bride and groom's style afforded the pair another chance to tailor their tastes, with Kerry choosing to finish her gown with Swarovski earrings, a customised hairpiece and even her own specially made Jo Malone perfume. Meanwhile, Tom and his groomsmen completed their dapper ensemble with bespoke ties and waistcoats.

The al fresco ceremony in the courtyard provided Kerry with one of her happiest moments as she took the time before making her entrance to absorb her surrounds. "Looking out of the window of the main bedroom at all our guests sitting in the courtyard in the sunshine was my favourite moment. It was such a unique ceremony area and just how we had imagined it."

Welcome drinks and canapes were followed by the wedding breakfast - a personalised affair that saw the caterers recreating the roast from Kerry and Tom's local pub.

"The slow-cooked beef brisket was amazing!" recalls Kerry. "We then had a trio of sharing desserts including 'toast your own' marshmallows, lemon tart and chocolate brownie."

Nachos with a choice of toppings kept evening guests' energy levels up, who arrived at the early time of 6pm "because we wanted them to be able to share as much of the day with us as possible," says Kerry.

"Spend money on the important things - food, entertainment... not everyone will notice some of the smaller details that can add up," Kerry advises couples in the midst of planning. "And try to be organised. We did lots of the bigger things first and then I used the time after this to get the smaller bits out of the way," she says. "This saved so much stress nearer the time as lots of things were already sorted."
