Love Sweet Sound, Wedding at Retorrick Mill, Cornwall

Emma and Jonas threw the party of their dreams at Retorrick Mill

Jenna, who comes from Newquay, and Jonas, who hails from Southern Sweden, first crossed paths 18 years ago, in an Austrian town called Kitzbuhel. "Before our marriage, we did 15 years of ski instructing in Austria together, travelling between the Alps in the winter and Cornwall each summer to run our family business in Newquay," explains Jenna, who enjoyed a snowy proposal in Finland. "Jonas had booked a surprise night's stay in the Ice Hotel and asked me to marry him whilst on a husky dog ride," recalls Jenna. "The Northern Lights came out that evening to help us celebrate; it was really magical."

The pair planned a wedding filled with music and entertainment in the idyllic setting of Retorrick Mill, where Jenna made her entrance to the atmospheric sounds of a string quartet. Conducted by Denise and Nicola from The Guild of Cornish Celebrants, their "very personal and relaxed" ceremony took place amidst a beautiful amphitheatre of bamboo and a softly flowing stream, and combined both Swedish and Cornish traditions. "We wrote our own vows and had a version of a handfasting ceremony using a wrap which they had made for us using Cornish tartan ribbon and Swedish colours," says Jenna.

1940s' crooner, Andy Marshall, sang the newly-weds back down the aisle and continued his performance throughout the Pimm's and wedding cake reception, where an old Citroen van also served tea and coffee as guests gathered on the lawn.

Chilled-out duo, Windslide, provided the entertainment in the marquee for the wedding breakfast - a buffet of rustic and slow-roasted foods that were cooked using open fires, spit roasts and smoker barrels - after which, Jenna and Jonas performed their first dance, a choreographed fusion of a Viennese waltz and an Argentine tango to Dean Martin's 'That's Amore'.

Guests couldn't resist the irresistible grooves of The Motown Pirates who filled the dance floor with their funky twists on party classics; then came a surprise performance by Duke, a three-piece beatbox band of "raw talent that absolutely raised the roof!" as a late evening snack of chunky soup, breads and cheeses did the rounds.

"As a tip to future brides and grooms, I would recommend keeping your guests' sugar levels up and keeping the entertainment coming: it was so much fun!" adds Jenna.

Looking back at their eclectic and musical wedding, Jenna hones in on one of her highlights. "I arrived at the venue before our guests and got ready in a cottage next to the green where everyone was having their welcome drinks and the string quartet were playing," she reveals. "I was able to listen to the beautiful strings whilst having the odd sneaky peak at our guests through the gaps in the curtains. I felt like I didn't miss a minute of our day. There were so many memorable moments - but this was definitely one of them for me."
