Having met on a night out in Clapham, Rob and Pete’s love story soon took a spectacular turn. In 2023, Rob struck gold securing tickets to the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool – a dream come true for the couple, both lifelong fans. “I took it as a sign,” smiles Rob. “I hid the ring and waited for the perfect moment.” As music filled the area, Rob got down on one knee. “Pete’s eyes were glued to the stage so, when I tapped him, he didn’t understand what was going on,” laughs Rob. “When he realised what was happening, he froze. I asked him if it was a yes; he nodded – and everyone around us cheered.”

When it came to planning their big day, the couple toured four venues before falling for Trevenna – a collection of barns nestled in the Cornish countryside. “From the moment we arrived, we knew,” says Pete. “The team were so welcoming, the gardens immaculate and the interiors elegant yet unfussy. It felt so special to fill it with our family and friends for a two-night celebration.”

Aside from the venue, there was just one rule: outdo the grooms. “We told everyone to wear their most extravagant outfit,” says Rob. “Our guests really went for it with glitter, feathers, hats and explosions of colour – everyone looked incredible!” Naturally, the grooms led by example, both dressed in impeccably tailored white suits, with Pete’s design featuring a dramatic train detail. “If you can't be extra on your wedding day, when can you?” he laughs.

Opting for a green palette, the floral styling echoed the lush backdrop of Trevenna. “The venue is rich with foliage and wildflowers in May, so we decided our arrangements should match the surrounding landscape,” says Rob. White blooms and greenery filled the space – from corsages and chair ends to floating florals suspended from a plank in the Garden Venue. Nods to Eurovision were woven through their table settings, a playful reminder of their engagement. “We wanted our guests’ tables to be flooded with candlelight, so we asked everyone to bring glass jars so that the team filled with tealights,” adds Pete.

Although Rob and Pete made their marriage official a fortnight earlier, it was their al fresco Trevenna ceremony where the real magic unfolded. Close friends Heather and Carrie officiated, adding warmth and personality. “They shared our love story with our guests, using words and memories we’d shared with them,” says Rob. “They moved around the centre of the flower circle as they spoke, giving the ceremony a dynamic, almost theatrical feel.” Accompanied down the aisle by their parents, the ceremony featured heartfelt family readings, a ring-warming ritual, handwritten vows and joyful bursts of confetti. “It was full of warmth and humour – it captured the essence of our relationship perfectly,” says Pete.

After the moving ceremony came a feast of Cornish flavours: goat’s cheese filo tart, slow-cooked beef with Yorkshire pudding and seasonal vegetables, followed by a riot of laughter as the Rob and Pete Olympics took over the evening – energetic team games in honour of their shared love of the Games. As dusk fell, the couple's first dance to Rihanna’s Diamonds kicked off a glittering night of music and celebration.

“My favourite moment was walking down the hill into our ceremony and seeing Rob waiting there for the first time,” says Pete. “The sun came out as I was walking down and lit him up so beautifully. I was just beaming the whole time, knowing he was waiting for me.”

Rob adds: “Our top tip is to savour the planning as much as the day itself. The day goes faster than any other in your life, so take it all in – look around, catch people’s eyes, smile and appreciate that they’re there for you.”
