A house with history

Built between 1720 and 1726, Puslinch House has remained in the Yonge family for generations. Its Grade I listed architecture, red-brick façade and elegant period interiors offer a sense of history without feeling formal or imposing. Tall sash windows draw light into the rooms, while original details and views across the gardens give the house its distinctive character.

Outside, walled gardens, mature greenery and open lawns create a series of spaces to explore throughout the day. With the Yealm Valley stretching into the distance, the setting feels tucked away from the everyday, yet Puslinch is conveniently located in Yealmpton, close to Plymouth and the South Devon coast.

The choice of ceremony spaces makes Puslinch House particularly versatile. The Drawing Room provides an elegant indoor setting, with French doors opening towards the walled gardens and room for up to 80 guests for a ceremony. Alternatively, couples can exchange vows outside, surrounded by the gardens and countryside views.

For smaller weddings and elopements, the house offers a more intimate backdrop, with the Drawing Room, Dining Room and Greenhouse providing characterful spaces for a celebration on a more personal scale. Whether you picture a simple gathering with your closest people or a larger wedding with everyone together, the atmosphere remains relaxed and individual.

After the ceremony, guests can gather in the front hall and spill out onto the lawns for drinks and conversation. For a larger wedding breakfast and evening party, a marquee on the back lawns provides space for up to 120 guests, with the house and gardens forming a beautiful backdrop.

The freedom to choose from a selection of trusted local caterers means the food can reflect your own tastes, whether that means a relaxed countryside feast or a more formal dinner. Couples can also select their own bar arrangements, with no corkage fees, and the team can recommend experienced local suppliers to help bring the day together.

Exclusive hire runs from the day before until the following day, giving couples time to settle in, prepare and enjoy a pre-wedding dinner before the main event.
