Lauren and Andy first crossed paths in 2016. “There was no instant spark or whirlwind romance – just an easy, unexpected friendship that quietly laid the foundation for everything that followed,” says Lauren of their slow-burn love story. “By early 2017, it became clear that what we had the kind of love that feels steady, natural and meant to be.”
When it came to the proposal, Andy knew exactly what Lauren would love – and what she wouldn’t. Enlisting the help of his future sister and mother-in-law, he planned an intimate, private moment. “I would have freaked out if it was public and probably would have run away!” laughs Lauren. Wedding planning soon followed, beginning with a visit to The Green. “We fell in love the first time we visited,” she says. “And we knew that if we loved it in winter, we would love it even more in summer.”
The couple envisioned a soft, natural aesthetic, choosing a palette of sage green, cream and beige that allowed the rural setting to shine. Personal touches were woven throughout, including a memory table honouring loved ones who had been lost, with photographs displayed in gold frames and a drink placed for each. “Our table names were places from the Marvel cinematic universe, reflecting our shared love of Marvel,” smiles Lauren. Tables were styled with blousy arrangements in cream, blush pink and toffee tones, finished with green napkins personalised with each guest’s name as a meaningful keepsake.
Surrounded by towering trees and rolling meadows, Lauren glided down the aisle in an ethereal tulle gown, adorned with lace, beading and sequins that caught the light, while her ten bridesmaids wore custom-made beige dresses.
The ceremony was deeply personal, with self-penned vows ensuring there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. “It focused on our love story, our two beautiful boys, Harry and Milo, and the future we’re building together,” recalls Lauren.
After drinks, canapés and photographs, guests sat down to a relaxed wedding breakfast of sharing platters – a moment that became one of Lauren’s most cherished of the day. “I was sitting at the top table, looking around the room at everyone I love and hold so dear, smiling and having a great time,” she says. “I just remember thinking how lucky I am to have love like this. Nothing else mattered in that moment.”
The speeches brought more highlights, particularly from both mums, “who absolutely knocked it out of the park with their heartfelt and hilarious words,” says Lauren. The first dance followed, set to Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling In Love, offering the newlyweds a few tender moments together before the dance floor filled and celebrations continued into the night.
Looking back, Andy recalls one of his favourite moments: “Actually getting to marry the woman who, when we first met, said she was never going to get married – and being able to do that in front of so many of our friends and family.”
For couples currently planning their own weddings, Lauren’s advice is simple: “It’s your day, so base it around you and what you love.” She also recommends extending the celebrations wherever possible. “We were lucky enough to turn it into an event that lasted nearly ten days,” she says. “We went St Mellion with family before the wedding to play golf and relax, which helped us decompress and ease into the day. Afterwards, we headed to Newquay with friends to unwind and really take it all in. Taking that time either side made the whole experience even more special.”
