After meeting online and dating during the height of Covid, Ffion and Dan’s love story culminated in a romantic proposal overlooking the glittering waters of Lake Como. “Dan couldn’t afford the ring he really wanted at the time, but didn’t want to miss the opportunity to propose in our favourite place,” laughs Ffion. “So he did it with a temporary ring – in the shape of a rat! It was a funny inside joke. It meant we got to choose the real ring together when we got home, which made it even more special.”

The couple tied the knot at Nancarrow Farm – a venue Ffion describes as “an absolute dream come true”. As soon as we arrived, I burst into tears. It was everything we’d been looking for and more – rustic, full of character and so beautiful. Knowing we could have 30 of our friends and family stay with us the night before and after made it absolutely perfect.”

Opting for a base palette of olive green, the couple layered in vibrant pops of colour through their florals. Bouquets brimming with bright colours, Icelandic poppies and foxgloves set the tone, echoed in the table arrangements for a cohesive, garden-inspired look. “Two milk churns filled with flowers really finished off the look,” shares Ffion. “We wanted to keep the décor to a minimum, as Nancarrow is such a beautiful venue.”

Ffion walked down the aisle to Everywhere Everything by Noah Kahan, performed live by pianist Jodie Mark. “As soon as I saw Dan stood waiting, I forgot that there was anyone else in the room,” she says. The intimate ceremony was “filled with lovely stories and anecdotes, with a small nod to our loved ones who couldn’t be there,” she adds. “It really was such a wonderful part of the day.” Drinks in the courtyard followed, leading into speeches and a celebratory wedding breakfast in the atmospheric Old Barn.

Guests enjoyed a starter of smoked pea ravioli, followed by smoked point end brisket with pressed potato, roasted shallots and garden herbs. For dessert, a brown sugar and rhubarb pavlova with Cornish clotted cream and tonka bean added a sweet flourish – while later, vanilla cream doughnuts were devoured in lieu of a traditional cake.

As the sun dipped behind the trees, the couple stole a quiet moment for golden hour portraits with their beloved dog, Bertie. “He’d been relaxing all day with Sarah, our wedding day dog nanny, waiting for his time to shine!” smiles Ffion.

For their first dance, the couple chose Ain’t No Mountain High Enough by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. “It’s always been my song with my mum, and it holds such a special place in my heart,” shares Ffion. “The band played an amazing rendition of the song, and everyone was up dancing before we’d even reached the first chorus!”

Her advice for other couples? “Nobody knows the plan but you. If something doesn’t go to plan on the day, nobody else will notice – so don’t stress the small stuff.” And finally: “Don’t leave each other’s side. Speak to guests together, dance together – experience the whole day together. Amid the excitement and emotions, being by each other’s side ensures you share every special moment – big or small – as a team.”
