Perched above the shimmering expanse of Falmouth Bay, Above the Bay is where laidback coastal style meets modern romance. With mesmerising sea views and a newly unveiled pagoda that feels plucked from a dream, this clifftop haven is the perfect setting to say “I do” with the sea as your witness.
This sun-drenched styled shoot was inspired by the venue’s breathtaking new ceremony space – a sculptural pagoda that frames the ocean like a painting. “I wanted to honour its natural beauty while letting my imagination run wild,” says stylist Sophie Walker. “The concept was simple: a flower-loving fairy had swept through, leaving an explosion of florals in her wake. I didn’t want it look polished or overly styled – just abundant, whimsical and joyfully unexpected.”
The result is a floral fantasy. Soft drapes dance in the breeze as blush, peach, lilac and cream flowers cascade from every corner of the structure. The bride’s airy skirt is adorned with three-dimensional blossoms that echo the blooms, with petal-like details woven into her softly waved hair, as if gathered by chance from the garden itself.
Step inside the venue’s sleek reception space and you’re met with a riot of flowers against rich wood panelled walls – a grounded backdrop that makes the colours pop. Modern meets mythical in every corner: a minimalist tiered cake adorned with crisp white florals, clusters of blooms bursting from urns, vintage bottles and earthen pots and tables dressed in candlelight and foliage. The stationery also gets swept up in the romance, with painterly blooms and fluttering silk ribbons sealing the look.
“Every element was chosen to blur the line between the wild and the intentional,” says Sophie. “As if a secret garden had just been revealed for the most beautiful ceremony of its life.”
