BETTER TOGETHER

Welcome to the latest issue of Wed! We’re so happy to be able to present this fix of sweet wedding escapism into your lives while the world still grapples with the Covid-19 pandemic. A sense of uncertainty continues to reign, leaving both couples and the wedding industry in a perplexing place. But we hope, within these pages, that we can turn your thoughts to the future – to the love that you’ve found, to the joyful celebrations that lie ahead, and to the togetherness that now seems more precious than ever.

It certainly lifted our spirits to see the first socially distanced weddings taking place in Devon. In our feature, ‘Love in the time of Covid-19’, we share the stories of some of the first couples to exchange vows after lockdown, from Emily and Ben’s wedding at Ash Barton Estate and Signe and Hugh’s celebrations in Shaldon. We also hear other life-affirming love stories from across the county, from Laura and Matt’s virtual ceremony to the loved-up couples who got engaged during lockdown.

If you’re now considering an elopement – and maybe a big party when restrictions allow – then turn to our special feature on p.104. As well as top tips for a just-for-two do, we hear from three couples who chose a small-scale celebration.

In the spirit of looking forward with hope, a dreamy, light-filled mood carries through the styled shoots of this issue. From the super-modern pink meets boho vibe of ‘Pastel Haze’ and the soft, ethereal mood of ‘Into the Light’ to the playful prettiness of ‘California Dreaming’ and the gold-edged glamour of ‘Summer Love,’ you’ll find gorgeous inspiration galore at some of the county’s finest wedding venues. Then there’s ‘In the Deep Midwinter’, which is rich in opulent tones and seasonal touches for those planning a winter affair.

Nothing stokes up a sense of wedding planning excitement quite like the search for your wedding dress. You’ll find the hottest dresses gracing Devon’s finest boutiques in these pages, and fabulous frocks for your bride squad, too. Then there’s our pick of the most gorgeous cake and flower trends, and real wedding stories from across the length and breadth of this beautiful county to warm the cockles. Enjoy!

Rebecca
