Paint your wedding with colour-fade pastels, balloons and blooms

A traditional canvas marquee, located within pebble-skimming distance of the sea on the shores of north Devon, sets the scene for a colourful take on coastal wedding style, where soft pastel shades echo throughout the flowers, stationery and decor.

'The colour fade look, which works so well with pastels, is playful yet subtle,' explains stylist Bridget Scott of Blue Fizz Events. Blooms in shades of pink, lilac, peach and cream spill from mismatched bottles, giving the table styling depth, while the stunning balloon display overhead echoes the gorgeous colours and fun-filled vibe. 'We continued the theme with my hand-dyed runners and napkins in watermark pastels on the beautiful rustic tables,' says Bridget. 'I also hand-painted the organic plates to give the subtle yet individual element to our look.'

Statement features sing out amidst the subtle hues, enhancing the romance of the scene, from the large, textured bouquet to the dramatic headdress. Flowers placed in the sand create an enchanting aisle, while a medley of plants, trees and foliage add to the wow factor. Then there's the delicate cakes, which, embellished with flecks of gold and flowers, beautifully echo the pastel theme.

For the groom, a pastel blue suit, pink tie and handcrafted buttonhole combine a classic look with an avant-garde twist, while his bride wows with a playful updo and soft, pretty make-up with a hint of shimmer.

'I wanted something delicate so opted for sheer panels of polka dot chiffon and a simple, barely-there top, teamed with layers of ruffled tulle for a large but light skirt,' says Bridget of the bespoke gown. 'I placed hidden layers of soft pink in the underskirts to introduce the soft pastel-fade element to the dress as it moved.'

This soft yet striking look can be adapted for a more formal aesthetic, depending on your venue. 'It is a great way to bring colour into every aspect of the day without it being overpowering,' concludes Bridget.
