Classic country house styling gets a contemporary makeover as pops of blue muddled with a dark & brooding aesthetic

From the grandeur of the sweeping staircase to the listed panelled rooms, new wedding venue Tawstock Court makes a versatile and enchanting backdrop for the modern country house aesthetic of this styled shoot.

"There is so much to this venue," says Bridget from Blue Fizz Events, who styled the shoot. "Whether you envision a forest ceremony in the summer or a morning room in the winter with roaring fires, the whole site is licensed, including a church at the bottom of the lawn in picturesque rolling Devon hills."

The former private school, set in extensive grounds just outside Barnstaple in North Devon, sets the scene for an informal country house wedding. "Divine composition, natural lighting and genuine passion combined to bring this look to life," says Bridget. "It's a timeless and classic take on current trends to inspire brides and grooms looking to create a quintessential country house celebration that you can't help but fall in love with."

Dressing a long wooden table in the morning room with the sun bouncing off the heritage yellow walls, cotton lace runners are teamed with vintage china and ribbon on linen napkins. "The entire look is based on subtle browns and Wedgewood blues, with soft accents of pinks and creams. A trailing centrepiece full of greenery continues with foliage at the back of the wooden chairs alongside satin ribbons and twine," says Bridget.

A blend of blues and neutrals are combined with rich texture in the cake and finished with intricate gold detailing. Classic yet minimal stationery uses old wax seals to bring an elegance that's offset with the use of twine among blue and brown shades.

Checks of grey, blue and tan bring a dapper look to the groom, while the bride shines in a simple silhouette with plenty of sparkle thanks to her sequinned gown and layered tulle skirt.

"Using fresh neutral tones and highlights, the bride's make-up shows a strong yet wearable look for any country bride, with soft tendrils for an utterly romantic yet relaxed vibe."
