Wedding styling: '80s neon

Rock chick meets 80s punk in this brilliantly bright and bang-on trend style fest

"We wanted to create a romantic, yet cool, rock & roll chic style shoot," says photographer Laura Farmer of Freefromimages, who created the concept and captured this bold, on-trend showcase. "The unique and bespoke venue chosen lent itself to this incredible avant-garde shoot."

The location of An Mor Hotel - a real hidden gem in the Cornish Seaside town of Bude, is a unique and quirky venue complete with its very own gin bar. The retro themed wall dressings and eclectic features created the ideal backdrop for the shoot's specially themed styling, where iridescent fabrics and neon lighting combined with the hotel's colourful smattering of props, historical photos and paintings.

"This combination of modern and imaginative decor was inspirational in the choice of props and styling used. The classic shape of the stationery was chosen as it complimented the mirror that displayed the table plan, which was then used to create the place settings. The colours chosen complimented the neon pinks and purples, bringing everything together."

The gowns were instrumental to the overall look, with a 'sophisticated glam' dress featuring extravagantly beaded bodice, long sleeves and sleek satin skirt, and belted, boho-style frock with glittering rhinestones, lace applique and soft tulle skirt, both by Casablanca Bridal. "The leather jacket was inspired by the current neon lights trend. It's groundbreaking in the UK as no other UK based supplier is yet offering jackets that are both lit and painted," adds Laura.

"The bridal accessories give a nod to that rock chick look, whilst still remaining 'bridal'. I love the positioning of the comb and how well it complements the hairstyle and bridal make up created. The cuff was designed to echo the organic leaf patterns in the dress and bring out those deeper colours that tie the jacket, headpiece and shoes altogether, again with that touch of pink to make it pop."

"The bouquet and venue flowers were a mix of beautiful shocking pink and dark red roses, bright pink Calla lilies, purple Clematis and dark red Gemini. Who doesn't love a gorgeous bit of colour clash? And the cake was inspired by the colours and vibe of An Mor: A mix of edible watercolour painting, vibrant, blended colours, and classic sugar flowers."

And with a fabulous gin-inspired high tea created to complete the look, the caterers cooked up a gorgeous storm of gin and tonic scones, gin cupcakes, gin mousse shots, macaroons with chocolate ganache and gin buttercream, chocolate-coated strawberries and open sandwiches.
