Pirzwell Barn gazes out across a glorious stretch of Devon countryside, where sweeping meadows meet tree-dotted valleys and the rugged heights of Dartmoor trace the distant horizon. Wherever you turn, you’re immersed in big skies and far-reaching rural vistas, from the fresh greens of spring and the golden glow of summer to the rich hues of autumn. It’s a landscape that captivates in every season.
 
As this styled shoot beautifully demonstrates, the lovingly restored barn is a remarkably versatile setting, ready to be tailored to every couple’s vision. “Proving that barns don’t necessarily need to be super-rustic or festival-style, we also wanted to showcase how a large barn can be thoughtfully zoned for smaller weddings,” explains stylist and coordinator Nikki Sherriff of Knots & Kisses. “With a serpentine table arrangement running through the centre of the barn, one end became a beautiful ceremony space that could later transform into the dancefloor, while the side areas accommodated lounge seating, the bar and cake display.”
 
A fresh spring colour palette of citrus tones and vibrant greens brings a modern energy to the styling, offering a twist on the classic green-and-white scheme often associated with barn weddings. Elegant arrangements of creamy lemon and crisp white blooms, threaded with lush foliage, frame the barn’s striking double doors, creating a breathtaking ceremony backdrop, opening onto a panorama of rolling fields and leafy trees. The florals continue throughout the tablescape alongside patterned linens and velvet ribbons, while sweeping drapes and statement lighting add softness and drama overhead. The result is a scene that feels both modern and romantic, framed by the beauty of the surrounding countryside.
 
The contemporary aesthetic continues with a sleek cake adorned with delicate floral detailing and a statement bow, while outside, a relaxed lounge area complete with parasols and cosy seating invites guests to unwind and soak up the views.
 
“I drew inspiration from the 90s for the bridal look,” says Nikki. A striking drop-waist gown paired with a short veil, glamorous hair and polished make-up offers a stylish nod to the decade while feeling thoroughly modern. Alongside her, the groom cuts a dashing figure in a muted green suit paired with a soft yellow tie – a fresh take on country-gent elegance. 
 
For the evening celebrations, the bride changes into a chic short dress styled with bold earrings, while the groom complements the look with classic black-tie styling. The mood is playful yet polished as guests gather around the vintage VW campervan, which doubles as both a photo booth and whisky-and-cigar bar. It's a stylish celebration of spring, perfectly suited to this characterful and irresistibly scenic Devon setting.
