Lover's Lane

Jenna and David's country style marquee wedding at St Kew Church

Jenna and David first met at a Young Farmers' Club summer ball. Romance soon blossomed and, after a few years of dating, the pair set about creating their dream home.

"We spent three months completely renovating our home and moved in," recalls Jenna. "A month later, David proposed on the threshold to our lounge; not only did he present me with a beautiful ring, but the kitten I'd always wanted!"

The couple decided to celebrate their wedding close to home, with a traditional ceremony at St Kew Church, followed by a marquee reception in a field on David's parents' land, aptly called 'Lovers' Lane'. From the florals to the decor, the details carried a pretty colour scheme of rose gold and dusty pink, which beautifully conveyed the sense of rural romance. The marquee was adorned with rose gold welly boots and vases filled with soft coloured roses, gypsophila and foliage, a carnival of paper lanterns and lush foliage woven around the poles

"Planning a marquee wedding is a big thing!" admits Jenna. "The set-up and preparation takes longer, but that's what makes it so special."

A collaborative and hands-on affair, everyone pitched in to help her vision become a reality. "We had massive help from both families and friends," Jenna says. "The boys started on Tuesday laying the floor for the marquee, which then went up on Thursday - then it was all hands on deck dressing the marquee and church!"

Hair stylist Jenna teamed her strapless gown with a stunning updo, while her bridesmaids echoed the day's colour scheme in soft pink dresses.

A sumptuous selection of canapes, Prosecco and bottled beer were presented to guests upon arrival, which was followed by a sit-down roast dinner of beef or pork with all the trimmings and a delicious trio of chocolate brownie, Eton mess and lemon posset. The evening continued the gastronomic delights, with a lip-smacking hog roast and cheese cake, the bottom tier of which was a hefty 3kg pork pie! "We also had a white chocolate and raspberry cake with cupcakes as extra!" adds Jenna.

A day replete with standout moments, it's a particularly poignant one that comes to mind for Jenna when asked to pick her favourite memory from the day.

"My brother did a speech on behalf of my dad as he's a shy man and hates public speaking," reveals Jenna. "It was a very special moment for me, and he had most of the room in tears."

Her advice to others is a simple reminder to have fun and some faith that your planning will ensure a seamlessly flowing day. "Enjoy it!" she says. "Don't let it stress you out and everything will fall into place!"
