Winter wedding at Anran, Devon

Even though Jo and Sam both originate from Devon, the couple didn't meet until they had both moved to Bristol and were introduced by mutual friends.

They got engaged while walking their new puppy on the beach in Salcombe in December 2018 and set the date for their Yuletide celebrations at Anran exactly one year later.

An enchanting combination of white and dusty pink tones subtly punctuated the statement greenery that lined the walls of the venue's striking glasshouse. A hanging floral installation, candelabras, fairy lights and glassware filled with white and soft pink blooms completed the magical reception scene.

In keeping with the wintery aesthetic, Sam wore a velvet suit by Hugo Boss, while Jo stunned in a sleek and simple gown by Made With Love, accessorised with light-catching earrings and a bouquet of crisp white roses and foliage.

After their ceremony at nearby St Matthew Church, which included the rousing soundtrack of a gospel choir, guests enjoyed canapÃ©s and bubbly before settling at the elegantly styled tables for the sumptuous three-course wedding breakfast.

Beetroot-cured salmon with celeriac remoulade and heritage tomato with burrata, mint and basil oil perfectly primed taste buds for a main course of black treacle and mustard-glazed organic Dexter beef brisket, and winter squash with slow-roast tomatoes, courgettes, mascarpone and gruyÃ¨re.

Devonshire cheese, biscuits and homemade chutney followed, while sweet-toothed guests were later treated to a gorgeous home bake by Jo's mum: a four-tier chocolate, vanilla, and lemon naked cake. The Shuffles Band performed an uplifting setlist for the evening merriment, with Goat on a Trolley providing the tunes for the late-night revellers.

'The glasshouse and how beautiful it looked as the sun went down and the darkness appeared,' recalls Jo of her most memorable image from the day. 'All the fairy lights and candles made it look so wintery and magical! I was always sceptical about having a winter wedding, but it felt so unique, Christmassy and special!'

While unable to choose a single best moment ' 'We had the best day of our lives!' 'Jo is able to offer up plenty of sound advice to others in the throes of planning their day. 'Try not to stress!' she implores. 'Everything works out on the day and everyone is so happy for you that I promise ' regardless of what happens ' your day will be even better than you pictured.'
