If minimalism isn't your thing, then fret not - for some of the latest frocks making a fresh-from-the-runway beeline to Cornwall and Devon's boutiques just happen to be awash with adornment.
Subtle or statement, it's all in the details. Whether you wish to pick a frock replete with ornamentation or customise a couture piece to individually suit, today's embellishments come in a variety of forms - and are especially luxe to boot.
Specifically, we're talking elaborate embroidery, intricate beadwork, dazzling sequins, colourful patterns and modern lace. Geometric, floral and 3D embroidery (with or without a pop of colour) add a dimensional and oh-so pretty patterned layer, while bejewelled gowns (think crystals, pearls, sequins and beads) evoke vintage, fairytale and voguish glamour. Meanwhile, metallic embroidery oozes old school elegance while simultaneously injecting your look with a modern, high octane edge.
Incorporate anything from oversized floral prints, feathers and dots to crystal-encrusted tulle and organza flowers to freshen and update any bridal look, whether it's in the gown or through an additional layer or feature such as the veil, train or (detachable) overskirt or sleeves.
And don't forget the fabric. Embellish your plain satin ballgown with an oversized back bow or opt for head-to-toe beading on your satin sheath, while appliques and panels can also be incorporated for extra detail. Select nude, tulle, or any of the hottest bridal laces: floral, tattoo and pearl beaded.
