A Gothic Romance

A modern love story with a vintage Gothic twist, this shoot combines contemporary styling with classic elements to achieve an utterly unique look.

Soft, yet striking, the aesthetic is both pared back and decadent. Tablescapes layered with texture and rich colour evoke a vision of classic fairytale style through blood red satin runners and napkins, ornate candelabras, pillar candles, silver charger plates and stunning crystalware. An eye-catching stationery suite complete with intricate calligraphy carries the colour scheme and contrasts with the sharp lines of the sculpted minimalist cake: a three-tiered confection finished with a single red rose.

The wedding wardrobe fuses a sense of timeless charm with on-point design courtesy of a corset basque gown with cold shoulders finished with a full-length veil. The groom’s tailored two-piece with wine red tie presents a chic and understated look that effortlessly ties the details together.

As the celebrations continue, the shoot adopts a more playful tone with a fancy dress photo booth, cocktail tower and frivolous evening dress change, the bride emerging in a dance-ready short frock with back bow heels and lace arm warmers.

Shot on location at The Alverton in the centre of Cornwall’s cathedral city, the editorial perfectly showcases the historic character and laidback allure of the spectacular Grade II listed former convent, which provides a gorgeously grand-lux backdrop replete with ambiance, and a swoon-worthy wedding scene.
