What could be more romantic than taking your vows to the soundtrack of the rolling ocean? Overlooking St Ives Bay midway along Hayle’s three glorious miles of golden sands, Beachside is perfectly positioned for gull’s-eye panoramas over the water and dunescapes.
One of only a small cluster of licensed beach ceremony venues in Cornwall, the picturesque coastal locale presents couples with a space beside the sea to say “I do” and celebrate their love in unique and atmospheric style.
Beachside’s newly developed Coast restaurant boasts uninterrupted ocean views, presenting a modern space for pre-wedding drinks, indoor ceremonies and receptions.
"Coast has so much natural light that it was a joy to style and dress this venue. The soft huey blues of the sky and looking out to sea, and the warm glow that sunshine creates as it reflects onto the terraces and through the skylight, made an inspiring backdrop," says coordinator and stylist Hazel Parsons from Out of the Ordinary Weddings, who styled this shoot. "The feel for the shoot was soft, coastal and relaxed yet elegant and timeless. We pulled in the colours around us to create the finished look."
A number of elements are used to achieve the aesthetic, from brass candlesticks to textured navy glassware, clean white linens, smooth pebble-like charger plates, gold flatware and low level florals with sprigs of greenery and striking sea blues. The cake is a statement piece featuring multicoloured icing in a fishscale design complete with confection mussels, while the lighting is natural, accentuated only by the scattering of a few floor lanterns.
The scene is further elevated by the couple’s ensembles courtesy of a muted blue three-piece suit and sultry slip gown with high collar and sheer organza sleeves. The sea-inspired pastel colour scheme continues with the groom’s boutonniere and the bride’s bouquet, along with pared-back pew-end floral arrangements and an asymmetric arch display. The stationery enhances the elegance of the scene, while the sandcast wedding rings provide the symbolic sartorial endnote.
