Choose a wedding menu which revels in the deliciousness of Devon. Dartmoor Kitchen serves up some flavoursome inspiration...
From the enchanting venues and away-from-it-all charm to the dizzying romance of the landscape, there are some excellent reasons to get married in Devon. And the food is arguably one of its most irresistible draws.
Whether it's fresh fish and seafood landed on the harbours of quaint fishing villages, meat reared in lush countryside, cheeses churned in local creameries or vegetables nourished in Devon's soil, the county is home to a bounty of flavoursome and fine quality produce. And, as couples seek to infuse their wedding celebrations with a local and individual flavour, a menu brimming with delicious Devon produce is, quite simply, a must.
True to their ethos 'a fresh approach to food', Dartmoor Kitchen embraces the finest produce Devon has to offer, adds their signature contemporary flair and a sprinkle of style to deliver an unforgettable dining experience. Their speciality menu, the aptly titled 'Devon Feast', celebrates these scrumptious ingredients in divine style - and, unsurprisingly, goes down a treat as a wedding breakfast.
"The Devon Feast consists of six main dishes served to guests either from a feast station or on large wooden boards and dishes to the tables for guests to help themselves as pictured," explains Claire Horne of Dartmoor Kitchen. "This method of serving works best with round tables because of the extra space they provide."
Comprising a meat, fish, vegetarian and potato dish and two salad or vegetable dishes, the delicious choice changes according to the season and the tastiest produce available. From crisp, zesty flavours in the summer to hearty root vegetables in the winter, the menu revels in the finest ingredients of the season.
It begins with the lovingly crafted canapes - a bite-size teaser of the deliciousness in-store. We tucked into beef carpaccio, crispy squid, tempura vegetables and chicken and duck rillettes with quail's eggs perched tantalisingly on top. Then came the mackerel fillets and melt-in-the-mouth steak with all the trimmings, moreish vegetables and vibrant salads; think green beans and peas spliced with feta and chilli. A hot chocolate fondant spilling with velvety sauce rounded off the feast in suitably mouth-watering style. Wow factor? Devon has it in delectable abundance.
