The post-wedding feast is fast becoming a scrumptious staple of the modern wedding. As these moreish 'morning after' menu ideas reveal, the wedding breakfast has some serious competition...
One day simply isn't long enough. The modern wedding is a two, three - hey, maybe even four or five - day affair. And why not? So much effort and preparation goes into planning a wedding that it seems a shame not to savour the experience a little longer. Guests may well be travelling from far and wide to celebrate your marriage and, with the wedding day being the whirlwind it so often is, organising a get-together the next day gives you the opportunity to spend quality time with all those people you may only have managed a snatched conversation with the day before.
Make it another day to remember by throwing a relaxed feast over which everyone can gather, mingle and reminisce over the wedding shenanigans. It's all about hearty food and chilled-out vibes - a failsafe formula for a laidback and memorable day.
Having observed an increased demand for post-wedding feasts, Jamie Beetham of Beetham Food has devised a tantalising menu to inspire one moreish 'morning after.'
Burgers and sliders are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser; go for a local flavour with Cornish beef, locally sourced crab and Cornish goat's cheese complete with oodles of toppings for the ultimate in hit-the-spot recovery food. Make a nod to the current craze for classic American diner fare with barbecued pulled pork and 'posh' dogs brimming with a scrumptious combo of mustard, onions, chilli and cheese.
Of course, a laidback Cornish wedding begs for some barbecued flavours, so treat your guests to the sensational smoky tastes of minute beef steaks, prawn kebabs and grilled halloumi. Flatbreads topped with the likes of curried cod and lamb are a brilliantly versatile option, and don't forget to fill those plates with scrumptious salads and sides for an abundance of colour and flavour.
For dessert, think light and palate-pleasing options, such as zingy lemon syllabub and fruit trifle. As for liquid refreshment, fruit punch and elderflower will refresh and rehydrate all those parched and partied-out revellers from the night before.
