-As the days grow cooler and the nights draw in, our thoughts turn to the charms of autumn: a season of rich colours, full flavours, crisp air and cosy moments - an endlessly romantic time to get married. Here, Westcott Barton is the canvas for a celebration of the season. Set in a secluded north Devon valley, the venue is styled with gorgeous blooms, lush foliage, soft candlelight and boho-rustic touches.
A celebration of nature blending earthy hues, ivy and twisted hazel with feathers and fresh apples, the tablescape looks magical against the characterful backdrop of the barn. "Gold cutlery and gold tea light holders add luxurious elements while reflecting the warm tones of autumn colours," explains the shoot's stylist Katie Stevens of Best.Day.Ever! (bestdayeverdevon.co.uk). "We also used candlelight to add to the ambience of the barn."
The sumptuous scene continues in the orangery, where twinkling chandeliers nestle grapevine foliage, and glorious sharing platters and delectable cocktails garnished with fruit brim with colour and flavour. Flowers are key in enhancing this feeling of abundance. " A stunning blend of dahlias, large bloom roses, grasses and scabiosa pods, seasonal flowers, and foliage were used in the bouquets and adorned both the celebration arch and the glorious floral crown," explains photographer Laura Farmer of Freeformimages Photography (freeform images.co.uk).
Hurricane lanterns are dotted throughout, while macramé features - from the table runner to a large hanging on weathered driftwood - bring a textured boho element to the scene. Benches wrapped in sheepskin add to the cosy mood for an al fresco ceremony in the gardens.
Her long hair echoing the rich colours of the season, the bride wears a soft, romantic dress of sheer lace and floaty tulle paired with delicate jewellery inspired by the grounds of Westcott Barton itself. In his neutral tweed suit and burnished orange tie, her groom also takes his styling cue from the tones of autumn - a season ripe with inspiration.
