Wedding at Buckland Tout-Saints

Organising a trip to Rome as a Christmas present - with Danni's father's permission and a ring belonging to her mother resized for the occasion in tow - Jonny selected one of the city's most romantic locations, the top of The Spanish Steps, to pop the question. "As we sat and watched the world go by, he turned to me with the ring in his hand and asked if I would become his wife," reflects Danni.



Inspired by these magical moments in Rome, the couple chose an Italian theme for their wedding, and the country grandeur of Buckland Tout-Saints proved the ideal setting, as Danni explains: "It's a fantastic location, away from everyone and everything - just perfect."



Royal Marine Jonny donned his uniform, prompting the colour scheme of navy and lemon, which was also carried in the details of the groomsmen's attire and the bridesmaids' navy gowns and lemon pashminas. Danni, meanwhile, wore a stunning peplum dress, and channelled Audrey Hepburn with her hair and make-up.



Further attention to detail conveyed the couple's love of travel and the place of their engagement, with a map of Rome serving as the table plan and the tables named after places the couple had visited. "We were off to Sorrento on honeymoon so we gave our guests miniature bottles of Limoncello as favours," adds Danni.



The table decorations elegantly enhanced the scene, with dazzling arrangements of gypsophila, daisies and mini yellow gerberas with cut lemons lining the vases and creating a zesty scent throughout the reception space.



Food was another sense-stirring feature. Guests dined on wild mushroom and spinach tart and ham hock terrine; a ballotine of chicken with spring vegetables and smoked bacon; and lemon tart with raspberry compote and honey mascarpone. Mini fish and chips wrapped in newspaper featuring the couple's love story were served in the evening.



Two's Up played a pitch-perfect jazz set for the laid-back garden party, while magician Dan Brazier wowed guests with his tricks. In the evening, Black Jack Davey filled the dance floor with his "hysterical" brand of entertainment.



"Jonny's most memorable moment was when he turned to see me walk down the aisle - he thought I looked beautiful," reveals Danni. "For me, it was when we were enjoying our meal, I remember looking down the room at all of our guests and thinking 'wow' - all of these people made the effort for us!"
