Anna and Dave's alfresco celebrations at Pentillie Castle

After eight years together, Dave chose the exotic Caribbean climes of St Vincent to propose to Anna while they were on holiday. "We had booked a romantic dinner on the beach, and before the meal Dave had snuck out of our apartment and written in the sand, using pebbles, 'Anna will you marry me?'. Halfway through the meal he asked if I wanted to have a walk on the beach, and there was his message!" remembers Anna.

Back in the UK, Anna and Dave fell in love with Pentillie Castle at first sight. "As soon as we walked in - even though it is very grand - we felt at home," explains Anna. "Also, there was a buzzard sitting on the fence post as we drove in so I knew it was a sign!"

Selecting a travel theme accompanied by a soft colour scheme of mint green, silver and white, an array of theme-appropriate personal and pretty details were dotted throughout the reception space. Anna accessorised her elegant gown, embellished with twinkling detail, with glittery heels and a creamy cluster of blooms.

After an al fresco ceremony beneath a gorgeous floral arch and the drinks reception, a wedding breakfast of pan-seared fillet steak, devilled fillet of sea bass, rolled breast of chicken or tempura vegetable pancake gateaux was served. Sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownies then provided the sweet touch, although Anna says: "the cake that my mum made for us was perfect and just such a lovely thing to do." The evening buffet was just as elaborate an affair, featuring sumptuous slow-roasted crispy leg, belly, loin, shoulder and ribs of Cornish pork and foil-baked field mushrooms topped with creamed leeks, Cornish blue cheese and pine nuts. With bellies sent into a state of bliss, and the couple's first dance to Set the Fire to the Third Bar by Snow Patrol, the evening entertainment then kicked in courtesy of a perfectly pitched party by the brilliant, Karizma Function Band.

Reflecting on the day, Anna offers some advice for nearly-weds: "Don't set your heart on any one supplier for anything - have a few in mind and see who is available on your dates. And don't get overwhelmed: it will all come together in the end."
