Hens and stags with a difference at Philleigh Way

Gather up your gal pals and round up your stags for a pre-wedding shindig like no other!

Philleigh Way offers a brilliant array of activities to suit all types and tastes, from bushcraft to foraging and a range of bespoke cookery courses.

Having enjoyed some unique recent experiences at the renowned Cornish cookery school, several groups have reported back on how they designed their day, and what exactly happened during their ultra memorable culinary-themed celebrations...

The first group organised a bespoke cookery day based around the popular Cornwall In a Day course. They were shown how to make the iconic Cornish pasty before getting hands-on preparing their own creation, along with another Cornish staple - scones. The day was rounded off with a traditional cream tea feast complete with homemade jam and clotted cream, with their handmade pasties carefully wrapped up to take home and tuck into for dinner!

A second group of hens had a very different experience. As part of a weekend of celebrations, the adventurous girls headed out into the woods at Philleigh Way to learn all about bushcraft with Swedish Bushcraft Instructor, Johan. Kris (founder of the breast cancer charity CoppaFeel!) had organised the activity as a surprise for her twin sister Maren, whose wedding Philleigh Way catered for just a few weeks later. The girls were taught how to build traps and light a fire using natural materials amongst other Bear Grylls style-skills. Maren shared some memories from her incredibly special hen day:

"It was such a lovely surprise having my hen do at Philleigh Way. I'm not sure Johan was quite sure what he had let himself in for when we turned up but he was nothing but brilliant, patient and incredibly interesting. He taught us how to make man traps, start a fire using a mushroom and tap water from a birch tree. Our minds were well and truly blown and we felt incredibly smug about our work before an amazing lunch cooked up by George. It was great to see my friends get their hands dirty and enjoy the great outdoors in Cornwall - we loved it and I'd highly recommend Philleigh Way to any future hens!"
