Sit back and watch your wedding dreams unfold on the edge of Dartmoor National Park at The Horn of Plenty, a beautiful 16-bedroom Georgian country house resting on the border between Devon and Cornwall. Sitting in five acres of picturesque grounds and orchards, The Horn of Plenty offers a luxe escape right in the heart of the magical South West.
The achingly romantic backdrop offers far-reaching views across the Tamar Valley, the dense woodland tumbling into the river below with the heights of Bodmin Moor on the horizon. An away-from-it-all charm is key to the venue's appeal, as is its magic throughout the seasons: from the colourful array of plants and flowers and sun-soaked celebrations of spring and summer to the enchantment of winter, with its roaring fires, candlelit feasts and vistas across miles of frost-dusted landscape.
The hotel is committed to ensuring its stunning location is kept that way too, with an impressive list of eco credentials which, among many others, include composting all green kitchen waste; bottling water on site from the hotel's own source; and recycling oil and using it as fuel.
A champion of South West produce, the hotel's 2 AA Rosette restaurant has helped secure awards such as Small Hotel of the Year and Best Fine Dining Restaurant. Its reputation for excellence promises a wedding breakfast to remember for foodie couples. While menus are tailored to the tastes of each couple, there's no shortage of delicious inspiration available: think roast belly of suckling pig; Vulscombe goat's cheese parfait; loin of Hatherleigh Estate fallow deer; and orchard apple and toffee cream with fresh brambles.
Every wedding at The Horn of Plenty is bespoke. The venue is licensed for civil ceremonies and wedding blessings may take place outside. Choose to hold your ceremony in one of the elegant rooms in the main house, available for 40 to 90 guests on an exclusive use basis, or a marquee in the grounds overlooking those showstopping views for up to 200. For a more low-key scene, afternoon weddings are also available.
One glimpse of the 16 individually designed en suite bedrooms and guests will be tempted to make a weekend of it. From the classic, country chic aesthetic of the main house to the contemporary styling and scenic balconies of the new Coach House, a luxurious and memorable stay in the country awaits. Ensure guests make the most of the fresh air and rural setting with activities such as walking, mountain biking and canoeing nearby. Meanwhile, beauty therapists will be on hand at the hotel for an array of pampering treats for mums, maids or even the men should they need beautifying before the big day!
